When you come upon the term creativity many of you will automatically imagine various types of artists which are usually painters, musicians, sculptors, writers, or designers. Creativity is, however, not exclusive to a single profession. It lies dormant in each and every human being. By pushing your own limits and working towards a dream you become more creative with every step you take. Because after all, those we see as creative prodigies, are usually people who refused to give up and by doing so, developed some of their best work.
Creativity is a muscle, one that will fade and wane without consistency and discipline. You need to build and strengthen it and repeat the process regularly. By doing so, you’ll have a solid core or in this case muscle memory to rely on when you’re in a pinch. Those pinch moments, or creative slumps can be overcome each and every time, even if at a slower pace.
The backbone of creativity is rooted in something called a memory bank. It contains everything I have ever touched, seen, smelt, tasted, watched, discovered, and interacted with. These sensations, both good and bad, drive my curiosity, allow me to ask questions and seek answers. They are the fuel I use when I need to push on in a crunch. Having a memory bank is essential and is the cornerstone of how you can kick start that creative muscle into action
Therefore, taste, smell, touch, look, experience, travel, discover, live through happy and sad things, read, be curious, ask, question, learn, and most importantly do not stop! Work on yourself, discover and read new things.
